About
Hattie is from Aberdeenshire but studied in Edinburgh at the Leith School of Art on both the Foundation and Painting Courses. She now has a studio in Edinburgh and is working towards numerous projects including curating a group show at the Heriot Gallery.
“I am an oil painter who mainly works in a subjective palette. My current work aims to capture fragments of people’s day-to-day lives; a family reunion, a conversation between friends or a quiet moment alone. I'm fascinated by people and as I work predominantly from photographs I am able to paint poses that have not necessarily been posed for, I think this makes for an interesting narrative within the painting as the viewer has a role in speculating what the figures are doing or the relationship they have with one another.”
